About Natasha Lotter BSc (Hons)
Natasha completed a BSc degree in 2000, in marine biology through the University of Cape Town. While studying, Natasha volunteered many hours at the Two Oceans Aquarium and found a great interest in the field of marine mammal and bird behavior and husbandry. This led to the opportunity to relocate to Durban in 2003 when Sea World moved premises and Natasha joined the Mammal and Bird department as an Animal Behaviorist. While working full- time at Sea World, Natasha completed her Honours degree part- time through the University of Kwa Zulu Natal.
When the opportunity came up to move to international waters, Natasha spent 2 years in Dubai, working in the marine mammal department for Dolphin Bay, Atlantis. With a large focus on equines in the region and a keen interest in rehabilitation, Natasha decided to move from a behavioral emphasis to rehabilitation. This involved studying a postgraduate diploma through the College of Animal Physiotherapy. These studies were completed over the period of moving back to South Africa and practicals took Natasha to many equine and canine practices through the United Kingdom and South Africa. A keen interest developed was that of red light therapy and her dissertation was on "The Effect of Light Therapy on the Healing of Bumblefoot in Penguins", undertaken at SANCCOB.
A desire to keep learning, Natasha has done educational training in Cayman Islands (MARVET) and in Israel (dolphin assisted therapy).
When not involved in rehabilitation and behavior, Natasha enjoys reading, running, swimming, riding and travelling.
