WE OFFER RECOGNISED CERTIFICATION COURSES IN EQUINE COMPLEMENTARY HEALTHCARE SCIENCE FOR ANYONE INVOLVED IN OR INTENDING TO ENTER THE EQUINE INDUSTRY

The fast growing interest in all aspects of complementary healthcare for equines is allowing for the global spread of the Equine Body Worker curriculum presented by Equinology  Inc ®.EquiworkSA has been presenting this unique programme, which has already proven successful in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia, in South Africa since December 2004. It is the first internationally acknowledged and certificated qualification of its kind in Southern Africa.

In 2015, Equinology, Inc ® celebrates 21 years of excellent education in equine sports massage, complementary modalities and health care continuing to set the standard for this ever growing profession.

The Equinology® Approach is the cornerstone for our Equinology Equine Body Worker Certification® (EEBW) Courses (EQ100, EQ101 and EQ102) .  This approach was developed by Debranne Pattillo, MEEBW, and founder of Equinology Inc. and co-founder of the International Equine Body Worker Association. She has used this approach successfully for her own client base for over 25 years, and has shared it with thousands of students, many of them already equine professionals, all over the world. This unique hands-on system addresses the whole body, implementing specific manual palpation methods to assess soft tissue and symmetry of muscle and structure, and utilizing detailed static and dynamic evaluation to inform the practitioner. Different bodywork techniques; including sports massage, soft tissue mobilization, stretching, range of motion and positioning exercises, as well as focal point work (stress and trigger points) are combined to provide optimal support for horses working in every discipline. Reflecting Debranne’s passion for academic precision with regard to equine musculoskeletal anatomy, the Equinology® Approach stands out because it is comprehensively anatomically referenced. The Equinology® Approach continues to evolve from Debranne’s extensive experience and ongoing learning from her colleagues and mentors; both human and equine.

Recognized by Multiple Organizations
Equinology is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider (USA).   Equinology is an approved RACE provider (Registry of Approved Continuing Education) (USA). Equinology's courses are approved and recognized by the International Equine Body Workers Association (www.iebwa.com), UK's McTimoney Chiropractic Association and the Society of Osteopaths in Animal Practice

In South Africa, many of our courses are accepted for Continuing Professional Development for Physiotherapists, Veterinarians, etc. Please contact us directly for this information.

Leading International Program
So many others attempt to copy our long standing program and we are flattered. However, no other program offers as many courses as Equinology® INC and Caninology® with our high profile instructors. We feel your education should be presented by the best in the field and in a classroom setting with plenty of hands on instruction. The comprehensive materials we offer is supervised by instructor participation not distance learning. While distance learning works well for some subject matter and course preparation; applied techniques need to be supervised for accuracy and value. If you were planning on receiving a massage, wouldn’t you prefer a practitioner that attended a program for the fine tuning and the modification required with on-site training rather than a practitioner who earned their certification from a book, video or other distance training? Wouldn’t you also feel more confident and assured knowing that your chosen practitioner has been examined by the issuing certification institution and completed case studies before earning their certificate?

  World-renowned Instructors
We strive to produce the leaders in this ever challenging field. Veterinarians and specialists who are household names from around the world teach our many courses. Where else can you find Dr. Hilary Clayton, Dr. Barb Crabbe, Dr. Nicole Rombach, Dr. Narelle Stubbs, Dr. Kerry Ridgway, Dr. Carrie Schlachter, Dr. Mila Speciani, Ruth Mitchell Golladay, PT, Dr. Kellon, Megan Kanz, MEEBW, Beverly Adams, Tina Watkins and Debranne Pattillo, MEEBW. Our instructors keep up with the rapidly changing information in the equine and canine health industry to make sure our students evolve and stay current in this wonderful field.

Progressive Equine and Canine Certification Levels
Courses at Equinology®, Inc. and Caninology® are presented in modular formats with the total hours adding up and going well beyond a 2-year course for those who continue to the Master Equinology® Equine Body Worker (MEEBW) certification level. In addition to the MEEBW certification, the foundation Equinology® Equine Body Worker (EEBW) certification, the Equinology® Equine Body Worker Level II (EEBWII) certification, the Equinology® Equine Body Worker Level III (EEBWIII) certification and our Caninology® Canine Body Worker certification levels one and two, we offer additional Extension Certification modules in Equine Myofascial Release and Saddle Assessment. Although these extension modules are available for everyone to participate, to be officially certified by Equinology® and Caninology®, one must also hold the Equinology® Equine Body Worker or the Caninology® Canine Body Worker certification.

  Monitored Externships: (Final Projects)
If the program you choose to attend hands you a "certificate of achievement" in animal bodywork or some kind of modality at the end of a few days’ time or over the internet, run. We go the step beyond a business education service through the compulsory externships that accompany each course. We provide sets of guidelines for externships which includes case studies and extra learning activities so that students can build on and assimilate all the information from each course, before testing for each level of certification. We feel we can answer questions a student may have during the case studies and fine tune their techniques through the use of a video which the student submits at the end of certification level testing. We are proud of our name and our graduates. With a 95% externship pass rate (80% is required to attain the certification in both practical portions of the externship), successful graduates have been extremely well prepared and accepted in the equine complementary care field.

Courses Suitable for Professionals and New Students

Our program is aimed towards serious students who strive to be leaders in their chosen profession. Our courses are regularly attended by professionals such as veterinarians, physical therapists, human massage therapists, equine massage therapists, trainers, barn managers, and chiropractors as well as those who are just beginning their studies. The courses are taught in such a comprehensive logical format, that individuals with little or no complementary equine care and science background will find themselves up to speed with the other professional participants as long as they have good horse handling skills and understand equine behavior.Take a few individual courses of interest or work through the whole certification program.
We present a leading international course curriculum based on a variety of modular clinics.

Heads Above the Rest Canine Program!

In addition to our great equine courses, you'll notice we began canine massage certification courses in 2005 for Canine Body Worker ® (CBW). We offer these courses in the true Equinology Inc ® spirit; taught by specialists leading the industry.
